Great news, Plexitarians! Thanks to everyone’s generous donations, the server has been successfully upgraded. We could handle about 10-15 transcoded streams at a time before, whereas now we can easily handle around 30. Transcoding is when you watch HD media at lower quality than the very highest. It’s what most people do and it’s what hits the server processor the hardest.
I’ve also bumped up how quickly streams are transcoded thanks to the new CPU so you may have noticed buffering time when loading a movie is much zippier.
Finally, I’ve added a new optional feature in the request form:
If you’re waiting on the edge of your seat for media to be uploaded and you’d like to be notified when an upload is complete, check the box and I’ll send you a text/email depending on what contact I have for you.
